MEPs for CAM – next meeting 21st February

Feb 05, 2018

The next meeting of the European Parliament Interest Group ‘MEPs for CAM’ (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) will be held in the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday 21st February at 12:30.

Hosted by Sirpa Pietikäinen MEP (EPP-FI), it will address the topic ‘Complementary and Alternative Medicine: its benefits for EU citizens with musculoskeletal disorders.’

Speakers from academia will explain that musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most common cause of occupational disease; the economic cost associated with them is high (2% of European GDP), resulting from medical expenses and sick leave. In addition MSDs involve high social costs and significant reduction in quality of life for workers. They will demonstrate how complementary and alternative medicine can offer innovative and effective options for prevention and treatment of MSDs, and how the holistic approach and practices of CAM are increasingly relevant for European citizens and EU's health priorities.
