ECHAMP’s 2009 annual Membership Assembly and Workshop will be held on 27-28 April in Prague in the Czech Republic, which currently holds the Presidency of the European Union.

Registration and authorisation procedures for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products are not making the progress we would all like to see in a harmonised European Union. This is partly due to unharmonised legal and regulatory policies in the Member States and partly to the limited competence and capacities in the national medicines agencies for these medicinal products. These issues are of serious concern to all stakeholders including the competent authorities.

It is hoped that the next legal term of the European Commission and the European Parliament will bring changes to the European Directive concerning the registration and authorisation of homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products. In preparation, ECHAMP has invited four of its associated members, major national manufacturers’ associations, to join the conference and workshop to work with us to analyse this situation and discuss solutions.
