Better Regulation – Better Communication
Mapping efficient solutions
All stakeholders in the field of homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products share the belief that the current regulatory system is not working efficiently and that new ways of working are required to bring about ‘win/win’ solutions for all – the patients, the prescribers, industry and the competent authorities. There is an urgent need for better legislation adapted to the characteristics of these products, for an improved guidance environment, a more open assessment environment and a new simplified pharmacovigilance system.
The participants of the ECHAMP expert workshop in Bled on 28 April had received an internal draft document with proposals for better regulation for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products in Europe. This draft document will from the basis of new ECHAMP publications that make proposals for legal and regulatory changes, the tools for ECHAMP’s communication to legal and regulatory decision makers in the coming years.
The afternoon session of the workshop was dedicated to discussions on how the sector should better communicate with the decision makers in order to achieve the outcome it needs.
Participants split into four working groups to work on proposals for better communication. They discussed examples of problems that have been successfully solved in their country, identified the main decision makers for their countries and discussed key messages needed for better communication with these audiences. The outcome of these workshops will help determine ECHAMP’s communication strategy over the coming years.
