First EU Homeopathy Day

The first EU-Homeopathy Day will take place this year on 10 April, the birthday of Hahnemann. This is a joint initiative of the patients’, practitioners’, doctors’, pharmacists’ and manufacturers’ associations to celebrate homeopathy, a worldwide medical system with its roots in Europe, and to celebrate Hahnemann, founder of homeopathy and a European citizen. It is intended that this will become a traditional date in the European events’ calendar.

The first event will take place in the Saxony Liaison Office (http://www.sachsen.de/de/bf/europa/info/index_kontakt.html) in Brussels, the perfect venue for this first EU-Homeopathy Day, Saxony being region of Germany where Hahnemann was born 253 years ago.

Members of the European Parliament, staff members of the European Commission and representatives of the European media will be invited to the event, which starts at 4.00 pm with a welcome address by Mr Wolf-Eberhard-Kuhl, chair of the Saxony Liaison Office in Brussels, followed by two lectures: Dr Michel Van Wassenhoven from the Unio Homoeopathica Belgica, research coordinator of the Liga Medicamentorum Homeopathicum Internationalis (LMHI) and the ECH (European Council for Homeopathy) will speak about ‘Evidence Based Homeopathy’; then Prof Dr Robert Jütte from the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Robert Bosch Foundation in Stuttgart will speak of ‘A History of Homeopathy in Europe’. There will follow a reception, which will start with a statement by a Member of the European Parliament.
