MEPs discuss the need for better regulation

On 21 October, Dr Thomas Ulmer MEP hosted a meeting in Strasbourg to discuss the need for better regulation for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicines in the EU. It was attended by MEPs Frieda Brepoels, Dr Pieter Liese, Michèle Rivasi and her assistant Valérie Op de Beech, Anja Weisgerber, and Kasparas Kemeklis, assistant of Justas Vincas Paleckis MEP. ECHAMP and its associate member, the German pharmaceutical industry association (BPI), were invited to present the industry sector and to outline the current regulatory obstacles. Dr Ulmer concluded that it was of crucial importance to simplify the rules and to create a good legislative environment for the homeopathic and anthroposophic industry.
