ECHAMP’s tenth anniversary was the occasion of a busy two days in Brussels in November – a high level pharmapolitical symposium, a full day contact programme with MEPs and health attachés and an evening reception and ‘birthday’ celebration:
Is EU legislation fit for purpose?
More than 100 participants including representatives of European patients’, doctors’ and practitioners’ associations and from the pharmaceutical industry attended the ECHAMP symposium on 18 November to listen to and debate with several prominent political, legislative and business stakeholders on the topic ‘Is EU legislation fit for purpose?’ Politicians and key stakeholders concluded that severe deficits in the current European rules for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicines mean that they are unworkable.

EU policy contact programme 2009: a successful outcome
On 19 November, ECHAMP member delegations from 17 EU countries took part in a series of constructive meetings in Brussels with 32 Members of the European Parliament and three health attachés. MEPs and attachés were given information about the main shortcomings of the current EU legislation for homeopathic and anthroposophic medicinal products, and many expressed their support for future change. A new publication outlines ECHAMP’s requests for action in this field in the current legislative term.

ECHAMP celebrates its first ten years
On 18 November, ECHAMP hosted a reception to celebrate its tenth anniversary. It was attended by members, seminar participants, and past and present supporters of the association. The dinner was also the occasion to look back over the past ten years of the association.
